Boise's Specialist for Stabilization
Radon is a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas—and Idaho has some of the highest radon levels in the nation. You can't see it, smell it, or taste it, but prolonged exposure causes lung cancer. The only way to know if your home is at risk is to test.

Why Idaho Has a Radon Problem
Radon is produced naturally by the decay of uranium in soil and rock. Idaho's geology creates ideal conditions for elevated indoor radon:
- Granite and Volcanic Deposits: The foothills and much of the valley floor contain uranium-bearing rock.
- Dry Climate: Radon escapes more easily through dry, porous soil than wet soil.
- Tight Homes: Modern energy-efficient homes trap radon inside. Older leaky homes may actually ventilate better.
- Basements & Crawl Spaces: Radon enters through cracks in floors, sump pits, and gaps around pipes. Homes with below-grade spaces have higher exposure risk.
Our Radon Services
Radon Testing
We use continuous radon monitors (CRMs) for accurate, tamper-evident readings. Testing takes 48 hours minimum and provides hourly readings for precise analysis.
- Real Estate Testing: Results in 48-72 hours for transactions.
- Long-Term Testing: 90+ day tests for the most accurate annual average.
Radon Mitigation
If your levels exceed 4.0 pCi/L (EPA action level), we install an Active Soil Depressurization (ASD) system:
- A suction point is created in the slab or crawl space floor.
- PVC piping routes to the exterior of the home.
- A specialized radon fan creates negative pressure under the slab, pulling radon out before it enters your living space.
- Radon is safely vented above the roofline where it dissipates harmlessly.

Why Use a Drainage Company for Radon?
Most radon mitigation companies only install radon systems. We're different—we understand the entire below-grade environment:
- Integrated Solutions: We often combine radon mitigation with crawl space encapsulation for maximum air quality improvement.
- Sub-Slab Expertise: We work under homes every day. We know how air and water move through Boise's soil.
- Sealed System Design: Proper encapsulation actually improves radon system performance by reducing air leakage.
What to Expect: Cost & Timeline
- Testing: $125-$175 for a 48-hour CRM test.
- Mitigation: $800-$2,500 depending on foundation type, system routing, and accessibility.
- Timeline: Testing takes 2-3 days. Mitigation is typically completed in 4-6 hours.
We re-test after installation to verify levels are below 2.0 pCi/L (our target is even lower than EPA's 4.0 action level).

Sinking Garage Stabilization
A homeowner in the area noticed a 1-inch separation between their garage floor and the foundation wall. Our diagnostic confirmed the home was built on uncompacted fill soil near an old irrigation lateral.
